The Nouns Discord is popping with Hot content. Beautiful original artwork, quotable discussions. History. The world needs to see this. But also, copy / pasting content is hard work, and it has to be done by a solitary Human Bean. Unreliable. Wouldn’t it be nice if a bot could listen in, evaluate community signals, and post the top content to social media automatically? Yup yup yup.
Say hello to Nerman, your Nouns Community tweeter bot! @NounsTweeter
Nerman is a Discord bot that gives the Nouns community an (automated) voice. A cultural multiplier for spicy Nouns memes. He is no good at making decisions - the community has to tell him what to post by using the Nerman emojis in Discord.
Nerman is open source and uses Node.js and Discord.js.
We will add a reaction to Discord that is used to automatically share a Discord message to Social Media. This reaction will be something general, funny, and we will create artwork for it. Something like “nerman_to_the_moon” or “nerman_blow_this_up” or “nerman_yup_yup” or “nerman_yee_haw”.
We will present options in the Nouns Discord and move forward with the one people are most excited about.
Our bot will be in Discord listening for the above reactions from Nouners. When the reactions meet a certain threshold (ie 5 reactions) the message will automatically be posted to all of the connected Social Media accounts. We will also experiment with different formatting options, such as including usernames, text content, images, and the Discord message link if content is cut off.
Nerman v1.0 will post to Twitter.
Determining the threshold of reactions needed to post will take some fine tuning. If it’s too high, nothing will post, and if it’s too low we’ll get junk content. This is an experiment. We will be in the Discord and on Social Media watching how this bot is utilized. If it’s not posting enough, or posting low quality content, we will make small usability tweaks as we go. This bot and social media accounts should be useful and fun.

Once a message reaches threshold and is posted to social media it’s ID will be recorded and will not be posted again.
We will also scan the social media posts to remove spam and offensive content, subject to our discretion.
We will implement devcarrot’s https://noun.pics/ API to provide the following Discord commands:
/noun id Provides a PNG of the specified Noun. The response will be ephemeral so people can use this command without clogging up the chat. We will support all other file types offered through the API.
/nounsowned Provides a tiled .png of all Nouns owned by a given address or ENS domain.
These command names may change as we decide the most intuitive language to use.
